Aaron is the Practice Lead for Logistics & Industrial Data on Avison Young’s Global Innovation team, based in the firm’s Chicago office. He joined Avison Young in 2019 to complement the Global Innovation team’s focus on data management, analytics, mapping & visualization with a specialization into the logistics & industrial property sector. He will play a leading role in developing scalable tools, point-of-sale deliverables and industry-specific products that provide direct intelligence and go-to-market strategies for Avison Young clients.
With a strong background in program & project management, content development, product deliverables, media interviews, staff management & mentoring as well as data management, Aaron will apply his experience of over twenty years in commercial real estate research services into how supply chain & logistics dynamics, emerging technologies, macroeconomic drivers & global trade factors influence and impact industrial real estate demand and development around the world.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Aaron was the Director of Research for the industrial sector for JLL from 2008 to 2019, helping to create, develop, lead and manage the firm’s research, data & content platform from its inception. He worked with national & local teams of industrial brokerage, capital markets, supply chain & research professionals to author market research reports, develop thought leadership & white papers and create & implement detailed data strategies for tracking markets and developing industry-leading analyses & visuals. He joined JLL from The Staubach Company, when the two firms merged, where was a Senior Research Associate.
Prior to joining The Staubach Company, Aaron served as a Senior Market Manager with CoStar Group, Inc., where he oversaw daily research processes, data collection & analysis for several different markets, and was responsible for overall market database integrity, accuracy & timeliness, as well as user satisfaction and the development of new data tracking processes & software systems. Also worked as Research Integration Director in London after the CoStar acquisition of Property Intelligence Plc in 2003, acting as a liaison between the U.S. and new UK operations, facilitating communication, analyzing workflow processes, authoring business plans & integrating research methodologies.
Mr. Ahlburn received his B.A. degree in Economics & Business Administration from McDaniel College in 1997. He is a member of the NAIOP’s National Research Directors Committee as well as a former member of the ICSC’s North America Research Task Force.
