Consulting and accounting boom as tech declines: Greenville job postings show surprising shift since 2021

Consulting, research, accounting, and recruiting roles now account for 39% of total job postings by industry. This sector has seen a 40% increase in postings since March 2024 and a 106% increase since April 2021.
The tech industry has seen a significant decrease, now representing 8% of all job postings, which is a 55% decline since the previous year. Similarly, the nonprofit and associations sector now accounts for just 1% of total job postings, reflecting a 42% decrease over the same period.
Despite declines in certain industries over the past year, all sectors have seen increased job postings since 2021, reflecting a strong post-COVID rebound. This growth, combined with companies implementing return to office policies, is expected to drive a sustained rise in office leasing activity across the region.
