About Derek

Derek Opert is a Senior Financial Analyst with the Capital Markets group of Avison Young’s Boston office, where he specializes in investment sales, debt & equity raising, and joint venture partnerships. His responsibilities include deal coordination & strategy and overseeing financial underwriting, asset valuation, market research, due diligence, and the creation of marketing materials. 

Derek joined Avison Young’s Boston office in 2012. Prior to joining the Capital Markets group, he filled the asset management role for properties under Avison Young’s management from a legacy portfolio. In this capacity, he was responsible for optimizing property operations, overseeing leasing teams in the marketing and leasing of spaces, devising strategic plans, and coordinating dispositions.

Before joining Avison Young, Derek was an Associate at Joseph J. Blake & Associates in Boston, where he was responsible for completing commercial real estate valuation and consulting assignments of various types of portfolios and individual commercial properties.
