From laboratory to patient, Central Indiana is building the future of medicine

Chart showing substantial growth in Central Indiana's life sciences industry from 2020 to 2026, with announced investment increasing to about $20 billion and both manufacturing/R&D and logistics space expanding significantly.

Eli Lilly is anchoring a broader life sciences expansion across Central Indiana, with more than $21 billion committed to Indiana manufacturing since 2020. Five highlighted non-Lilly projects represent approximately $1.47 billion in announced investment, while six highlighted projects with disclosed footprints account for approximately 1.71 million square feet of operating, planned and expanded space. The growth spans radiopharmaceuticals, laboratory testing, diagnostics, injectable drugs, medical devices and contract manufacturing. Alongside this private investment, Indiana has launched a $1 billion, 10-year initiative targeting 100,000 high-wage agriculture and life sciences jobs. The clearest evidence that the cluster is taking hold may be the demand emerging in the supply chain. Langham Logistics, MD Logistics, Cardinal Health, DHL, Boston Scientific and ResMed account for approximately 1.92 million square feet of logistics, distribution and support space, with Langham and MD Logistics specifically citing growing customer demand for pharmaceutical capacity.
