James Searl is a Senior Vice President at Avison Young, bringing more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience across the New York City and Fairfield and Westchester County markets. His practice focuses on office leasing, investment sales, landlord and tenant representation throughout the tri‑state region.

At Avison Young, James leverages his deep market knowledge and institutional background to advise owners, developers, and tenants on strategic real estate decisions, with a particular emphasis on office and investment properties in Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY.

Prior to joining Avison Young, James built a distinguished career with several of the industry’s leading global brokerage firms. He served as a Vice President at CBRE, where he advised institutional owners and investors on high‑profile leasing and investment assignments. He later joined Cushman & Wakefield as a Senior Director in New York City, where he was involved in numerous complex, high‑end transactions, including the lease‑up of One World Trade Center.

Over the course of his career, James has completed real estate assignments and advisory work for a roster of prominent public and private organizations, including The Durst, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Vornado Realty Trust, Building and Land Technology, and Soung Federal Credit Union. These engagements reflect his experience with institutional landlords, major developers, and public‑sector entities on some of the most complex real estate projects in the New York metropolitan area

James resides in Westport, Connecticut, where he has lived for more than 30 years and remains actively involved in the regional real estate community

James earned his undergraduate degree from Wagner College on Staten Island, New York and a master’s degree from Kean University, Union, New Jersey.
