About Karina A.

Karina A. Rico, MBA is the Regional Marketing Director for the Western U.S. at Avison Young, where she leads marketing and business development strategy across 14 offices in five states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, and Nevada. Based in Los Angeles, Karina partners closely with executive leadership and senior professionals to support revenue growth, client development, and high-value pursuits in a highly competitive, relationship-driven market.

With more than 20 years of experience in professional services, Karina brings extensive experience at the intersection of marketing, business development, and client strategy. Her work focuses on aligning go-to-market strategy, proposal and pitch execution, and client targeting to help teams win new business and expand existing client relationships.

Karina leads and scales multi-level, multi-market teams, overseeing directors, managers, and cross-functional professionals while implementing systems and processes that improve collaboration, execution, and measurable outcomes. She is known for her ability to operate effectively within complex, partner-led organizations and translate strategy into action.

Among her notable accomplishments, Karina led the pursuit team that secured one of the firm’s largest real estate portfolio assignments, a multi-million-square-foot engagement for a Fortune 200 client, demonstrating her ability to manage high-stakes, enterprise-level initiatives. Her leadership and impact have been recognized through multiple industry and firm honors, including GlobeSt.com recognition in Marketing & Communications and Avison Young’s Circle of Excellence awards.

In addition to her role, Karina is the founder of Conexión, Avison Young’s first Hispanic and Latino Employee Resource Group, which supports leadership development, community, and inclusive growth across the firm. She is a frequent advisor on high-level new business pursuits and works closely with brokerage teams to support strategic client opportunities.

Education & Licensure

Karina holds a Master of Business Administration from Chapman University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from San Diego State University. She is a licensed California Real Estate Salesperson.
