About Michael

As Principal and Market Leader of the Pittsburgh office, Michael is responsible for delivering agency leasing, tenant representation, and corporate advisory services for owners and users of real estate, with a focus on strategic growth, developing new relationships, and recruiting talented, good people.

Prior to joining Avison Young in 2012, Michael started with another firm in 2004, working closely with the Office and Corporate Services groups. Michael specializes in the CBD and Suburban office markets, Corporate Advisory services, identifying opportunities, and representing clients in all aspects of commercial real estate. Mr. Downey has recently provided tenant evaluation services to companies such as Northwestern Mutual, PPG Industries, RoadRunner, Carnegie Mellon University and United Steelworkers.

Originally from Cleveland, OH Michael attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA and has remained in Western Pennsylvania since.  Michael and his family are very active in the local community, schools and youth sports. Mr. Downey resides in McCandless, PA with his wife Mandi, daughter Mackenzie and son Macklin.
