About Michael

Michael Gottlieb joined Avison Young as a Founding Principal to help launch its New York office in April 2012 and subsequently led the company’s efforts in 2020 to establish an affiliate office in Tel Aviv.

During his 30+ year career, Michael has successfully provided advisory and transaction management services covering all aspects of the real estate business – from tenant representation, landlord agency, capital market transactions and structuring joint ventures, to property management and lease administration services. His experience also includes financing, workouts, lease audits and development of financial models for transaction analysis and rental rate forecasting. Since joining Avison Young, he has co-led a team that completed more than 550 transactions valued at more than $3.5 billion, representing clients that range from Fortune 500 companies to schools and various non-profit organizations.

Michael is consistently recognized as one of the company’s top global professionals, having been named to Avison Young’s Circle of Excellence ten times in the past eleven years. He also served as chair of the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) sub-committee to update the organization’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practices.

Prior to joining Avison Young, Michael was Vice Chairman of Transaction Services at Grubb & Ellis (now Newmark) in New York. Prior to his 14 years at Grubb & Ellis, he was a Senior Managing Director at Insignia/ESG (now CBRE). Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years as CFO and then General Counsel for a NY-based family office.
