Nashville leads peer cities with highest tax revenue per capita

Nashville, the county seat of Davidson County, has experienced a significant increase in property values, with some areas seeing spikes up to 45% since 2021- reflecting the strong market dynamics within the city. Local government officials lowered the county’s tax rate during the most recent reappraisal year to account for these rising property values, however, many owners are still scrambling to find relief as substantial tax bills continue to drain profits from their expected returns. While the middle Tennessee region has recorded exponential population growth over the last decade, Davidson County leads among its Southeastern peer cities in the highest tax revenue per capita. As the city continues to grow and attract new investment, the challenge moving forward will be maintaining fiscal sustainability while ensuring property ownership remains economically viable for residents and investors alike.
