New York City – Strategic commercial real estate leader Dorothy L. Alpert is joining Avison Young as its new Tri-State President and Principal the firm announced today. Alpert joins Avison Young following a 30+ year career at Deloitte where she focused on strategy and operations consulting in the real estate industry, including leading the firms’ real estate services practice in the U.S. where she led significant client relationships.

As the co-founder of ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative, Dorothy is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry and her leadership in this space complements Avison Young’s focused advancement of women and underrepresented groups within the industry. The firm’s efforts were recently recognized by GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum Women of Influence awards in its inaugural 2021 Diversity Champion company category.

Alpert has been honored as one of Real Estate Forum’s Women in Influence: Legends, Real Estate Forum’s Women to Watch, and Real Estate New York’s Women of Influence. She holds an MBA from Fordham University and a BA in Mathematics from Bates College. 

With Alpert’s appointment, Arthur Mirante will transition to the role of Chairman of the Tri-State region; in this leadership role, he will provide advisory support to Alpert and maintain key client relationships. Mitti Liebersohn continues as President and Managing Director of New York, and Jeff Heller, Sean Cahill and Ted Stratigos will continue to lead New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island as Managing Directors, respectively. These leaders will form a Tri-State Executive Committee along with top producers to support strategic growth in the region.
