Avison Young announces full-building lease with world-renowned gallerist, Hauser & Wirth, for its new outpost in West Hollywood

Los Angeles, CA – Avison Young announced today it has negotiated a new, 10-year lease with Hauser & Wirth, a world-renowned art gallerist headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, at 8980 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Hauser & Wirth will occupy the entire 10,800 square-foot building situated on the southeast corner of LA Peer in the dynamic West Hollywood Design District just east of Beverly Hills.
Christopher V. Bonbright, Principal & Managing Director for Avison Young’s West Los Angeles and Los Angeles North offices, along with Lauren Aboulafia of Conroy Commercial, represented the landlord, Will Enterprises, LLC. Hauser & Wirth was represented by Tyler Stonebreaker and Geoffrey Anenberg of Creative Space.
Built in 1931, the building is a local icon due to its spectacular bow truss architecture and 30-year history as home to Heritage Classic Cars which has moved its operations online. The charming, architecturally compelling building features 161 feet of glass line, offering high visibility and presence.
“While L.A. has long been an epicenter for the art community worldwide, both artists and art dealers locally are definitely experiencing a very special moment right now,” said Bonbright. “With collectors spending more time at home, L.A. has emerged as the place where many immersed in the art world want to be.”
Bonbright noted that the design and renovation process is underway with a grand opening anticipated for fall 2022. The space will include an art gallery and restaurant.
This is the second Los Angeles-area outpost for Hauser & Wirth and ArtFarm, a hospitality company owned by Iwan and Manuela Wirth, the co-presidents of Hauser & Wirth. Their first, featuring the celebrated restaurant, Manuela, is located in the Arts District.
