Industry veteran to lead Mid-Atlantic growth and expand national healthcare project management
Washington, DC — Global commercial real estate advisor, Avison Young, today announced that Jarret Horst has joined the firm as Principal, Project Management Lead, National Healthcare and Mid-Atlantic region. In this dual role, Horst will focus on strengthening and expanding the firm’s Project Management service line across the Mid-Atlantic region while advancing its national healthcare project management platform.
Horst will play a critical role in growing the firm’s Project Management practice in the Mid-Atlantic. His appointment also enhances the firm’s ability to deliver specialized solutions to healthcare clients nationwide, leveraging his deep sector expertise and established relationships.
“Jarret’s extensive background across multiple facets of construction and real estate positions him as a valuable addition to our team,” said Patrick Schmidt, Principal, Managing Director, U.S. Studio, Project and Construction Management. “His leadership will not only strengthen our project management capabilities in the Mid-Atlantic but also accelerate growth within our national healthcare practice.”
Horst brings nearly three decades of experience in construction and construction management, including 15 years as a contractor, 10 years as an owner, and four years serving as an owner’s representative for a real estate firm. Most recently, he served as Senior Director at Cushman & Wakefield, where he led the Baltimore Project & Development Services (PDS) market and acted as the Maryland Healthcare Lead.
Horst’s appointment aligns with Avison Young’s broader strategy to expand its service offerings and deepen client relationships, particularly among mid-sized portfolios seeking high-touch, customized solutions. His experience working with healthcare systems will support the firm’s efforts to deliver integrated, client-focused outcomes. This integrated role allows Horst to work closely with Schmidt to advance project management capabilities for the Mid-Atlantic region while partnering with Jay Johnson, Principal and Executive Managing Director of Avison Young Healthcare Services, to align those capabilities with the firm’s national healthcare real estate platform.
“My professional philosophy for the last few years has been to ‘follow the work,’” said Horst. “Avison Young is well-positioned to capture a robust share of the market serving mid-sized client portfolios. The firm’s size and structure enable it to act as a true partner, offering the expertise and resources needed to drive meaningful growth—for both our business and our clients.”
With this strategic hire, Avison Young continues to strengthen its Project Management platform, enhance its leadership bench, and position itself for sustained growth in key markets and sectors.
