Scott Pickett is a seasoned real estate professional with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, brokerage and development. As the Managing Director and Principal of Avison Young’s Columbus Office, Scott and his team serve Central and Southern Ohio.
Scott’s broad expertise in the industry ranges from development, construction and financing roles with a family-owned development company, to serving in leadership positions with an international brokerage service company, to leading his own real estate firm. He is responsible for developing and leasing more than 12 million square feet, with three million square feet of new construction. He has executed assignments in almost every state in the United States and internationally.
Scott draws on a strong network of relationships in the market to deliver for his clients as he navigates complex developments and transactions. A key area of focus includes representing both tenants and buyers in Central Ohio’s thriving industrial market. Scott quickly transitions from closing to getting the property shovel ready and the project built. He assists clients with site selection, planning, zoning, utilities, and development, economic incentive packages, contractor selection and construction.
From experience, Scott understands the true costs of construction and the impact the current environment’s fluctuating building costs can have on his clients’ bottom line. He walks with clients every step of the way to ensure they maximize their investment, while protecting them from unexpected costs.
Scott joined Avison Young in 2014 when he sold PSB Realty Advisors, a commercial real estate firm he founded in 2008, to Avison Young. Prior to founding his own company, he was a Vice President at CB Richard Ellis, specializing in representing tenants and corporations on the global corporate service team. He spent 11 years at Continental Real Estate Companies as the Vice President of Development and Brokerage Services, managing the development of office, industrial and retail development projects, along with a portfolio of more than one million square feet of office and industrial buildings. Scott’s corporate clients have included Cardinal Health, Nationwide Insurance, Scotts, BMW Financial, MCI and Medco.
Scott launched his career at The Pickett Companies, a national developer of hotel and office properties. His responsibilities ranged from job superintendent on construction sites to site selection and financing for new hotels in the Midwest and East Coast.
Scott is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Columbus Board of Realtors, The Columbus Club and Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Education and Designations
Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, where he double majored in finance and real estate. He obtained his real estate license in 1991.
