Karen joined Avison Young in 2012 as Senior Property Manager.

Early in Karen’s career, she began working at the Effingham Hospital as a Staff Accountant and then later became the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Compliance Officer.  She entered the real estate industry as the Assistant Controller for Melaver, Inc, which was a small privately owned 3rd generation company based in Savannah, Georgia.  In order to better streamline the relationship between the finance and operations divisions, Karen was made Director of Operations and Head of Human Resources in August 2010.  Not only was she responsible for all HR functions and reporting, but she was provided the operational and financial oversight of the Melaver owned stabilized properties.  In October 2010, the Melaver family began to transition away from in-house development and management and transitioned their management functions over to DBR & Associates which later merged with Flagler Real Estate Services, LLC.

Karen has experience working with office buildings, retail centers, and warehouses with all types of tenants.

Karen is a LEED Accredited Professional, and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Construction Financial Management Association, and Society of Human Resource Management, and the GSU Eagle Executive Society.
