Austin metro leads the nation in jobs added over the last 12 months

Austin's strong job growth has outpaced the national average in recent years. Between 2016 and 2021, Austin's employment grew by 14.1%, compared to the national average of 6.9%.
Texas’ over-the-year employment growth through March 2023 outpaced the nation in every one of the 11 major industries.
Since March 2023, Leisure and Hospitality led job growth with 7,400 positions added, followed by Construction, which increased by 5,800 jobs. Both Trade, Transportation and Utilities and Private Education and Health Services grew by 5,400 jobs in March.
